YEARS IN THE MAKING: From Athlete to Ownership

Ever heard the song? It’s one of my favourites and it is written and performed by one of my favourite bands Arkells. As I sit down to write this update and/or blog post, I can’t help but to think it’s been ‘Years In The Making’. Why’s that? Well, let me tell you a quick story.

Over 10 years ago, I had my first experience at the same facility a lot of you may have started at. It was the place with the big orange wall and was called Shift. In my first session at the facility, our baseball team was led by former Shift performance coach Sean Holmes (A.K.A. Homer). At the time, he was helping to train their newest recruit. It was some fresh out of university, eager, new coach. It ended up being who we all know now to be Adam or “Marty”. Here began what would become a huge part of my life moving forward. I trained at Shift for many years while playing varsity baseball at Western University and got to know my way around the facility pretty well. When I began at Shift, it was a well-oiled machine. Treatment and therapy at the front, training, and performance at the back. In fact, it was a chiropractor who originally worked at Shift who helped lead me down the path of my profession. Having spent so much time in the facility over the better part of my athletic career, it started to don upon me that this was a place I could see myself wanting to be a part of, even after my athletic endeavours ended.

Fast forward over a decade later and a name change, I’m proud to announce my ownership and partnership at Pursuit. Together with Adam and Wayne, I am committed to helping build out and run the facility we’ve all dreamed of. Now as an ownership group, we feel that adequate attention can be paid to the many differing demographics of the business, as well as a newly minted therapy department. In many ways, this partnership was formed a long time ago and just feels like it was ‘Years In The Making’.
